San Francisco - April 6, 2022 - SpotOn, a leading software and payments provider, today announced it is now serving more than half of all Major League Baseball (MLB) ballparks and is quickly gaining ground in the Minor League Baseball (MiLB) ballparks. As operators look to improve operations and the fan experience, they’re turning to SpotOn to adopt new stadium technology including contactless payments, self-service technology, and more. Since 2017, SpotOn has helped to bring a grand slam experience to crowds and operators and is pleased to welcome the MLB Arizona Diamondbacks, as well as MiLB Arkansas Travelers, Durham Bulls, and Sacramento River Cats, in the 2022 season.

SpotOn's powerful, cloud-based platform offers a contactless, omnichannel solution tailored to each stadium’s unique needs; including a lightning-fast cloud-based POS, handheld ordering and payments technology, plus in-seat, mobile, and online solutions. The digital payments and real-time ordering technology not only remove points of friction for fans, making it easier to buy concessions and merchandise without missing any big plays, but also help stadiums do more with less as the nation weathers a collective labor gap. SpotOn technology empowers fans to control their purchase journey, resulting in fewer staffing challenges. At Chase Field, SpotOn added 383 point-of-sale stations, 51 handhelds, 3 kiosks, and 40 KDS systems to help increase transaction speed for the 2022 Arizona Diamondbacks season.

Over the last two years, ballpark operators have largely delayed upgrades to their point-of-sale systems due to COVID’s negative impact on sales. While consumer preferences shifted to contactless during the pandemic amidst health concerns, SpotOn recognized an opportunity to maximize the potential of that model to facilitate easier, faster, and more paperless transactions. To meet the expectations of fans, ballpark operators have turned to SpotOn to upgrade technology, introducing a cloud-based point-of-sale solution with terminals, and handhelds that increase guest satisfaction by reducing lines at concessions and providing faster checkout and transactions.

“Our focus is on creating a truly memorable game day for our fans and for each guest that looks different—a delicious snack, being able to quickly grab a cold beer without missing the main event, or snapping up a souvenir with a simple tap of their card,” stated Rusty Meeks, CEO of the Arkansas Travelers. “We view technology as the thread that helps us execute on the fan experience, and SpotOn makes it easy for us with fast, easy-to-use, reliable tools from a cloud-based point-of-sale to mobile ordering and everything in between.”

With SpotOn, ballpark operators get a fully integrated business management platform complete with enterprise-level reporting for a bird’s-eye view of the entire business, including sales and inventory across retail, food and beverage point-of-sale locations. These insights can help operators recognize trends in real-time and adjust product mixes to maximize profitability.

We’re thrilled to help the MLB teams usher in this new age of flexible stadium technology that offers them the ability to be nimble and adapt to changing environments.

“We’re thrilled to help the MLB teams usher in this new age of flexible stadium technology that offers them the ability to be nimble and adapt to changing environments,” stated RJ Horsely, Chief Operating Officer of SpotOn. “As they welcome back fans at full capacity, SpotOn is at the ready to help operators introduce a faster, more efficient commerce experience with flexible technology like a point-of-sale that can easily be repurposed as a self-service kiosk in the face of staff shortages.”

Digital payments and real-time ordering are powerful tools in SpotOn’s commitment to helping these venues emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever with a fully integrated business management platform, complemented by 24/7/365 in-person support. With SpotOn, operators can welcome guests back with the confidence in knowing their technology partner is there to help them streamline operations, enhance the guest experience, and grow revenue.
