FAQ

The Handheld is designed with an IP67 rating to be submersible in 3 ft of water for 30 minutes and features a 5 ft MIL-STD-810H drop rating, making it durable and reliable for continuous use in busy restaurant environments.

It features an octa-core QC4490 processor with 8 GB RAM and 64 GB storage for fast POS performance. The 6.7" display offers 550 nits brightness and 720 × 1600 resolution, running on a POS interface optimized for mobile restaurant workflows.

The device has an integrated, backlit EMV chip reader, magstripe support, and NFC contactless mobile payments, including popular options like Apple Pay and Google Pay. You can process payments with a tap, dip, or swipe. Every transaction is encrypted end to end. For credit card processing rates, visit our payment processing & funding page.

The battery is designed for up to 18 hours of use and charges to 80% in just 1.8 hours. Its compact dimensions are 7.8" H × 3.2" W × 0.6" and it weighs 0.94 lbs — light enough for comfortable all-day use.

The handheld offers robust connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E and 4G cellular. It also supports QR scanning via its front-facing camera and built-in scanner for gift cards.

Yes. SpotOn's POS software has an advanced offline mode, built to keep you operational even when your internet connection is interrupted. The system keeps stations, handhelds, printers, and KDS screens in sync and continues to take orders and payments offline, so your restaurant keeps running without disruption — a critical advantage during busy service.

Servers use SpotOn Handheld for tableside ordering and payment — everything happens directly at the table, with no need to run back to a terminal or POS station. They send orders directly to the kitchen the moment a guest is ready, which cuts the back and forth that slows down service. Fewer handoffs means fewer errors, and better order accuracy means fewer comps and re-fires.

SpotOn Handheld is a game-changer for restaurants that want to move guests faster without cutting corners on hospitality. Faster service starts the moment a server takes an order at the table instead of walking back to the POS. Faster table turns follow naturally, and better table turnover adds up to more covers and more revenue per shift. Guests notice the convenience of paying on the spot, and that's a better guest experience across the board.

When servers spend less time walking and more time with guests, they consistently increase tips. SpotOn Handheld prompts guests with smart tip suggestions at checkout, which drives higher tips over time — guests can select a preset amount with a single tap, no math required. If a guest wants a paper receipt, connect a receipt printer and print receipts right at the close of the transaction. Receipts can also be sent digitally, which helps you collect guest phone numbers and email addresses, which can then be used to send marketing campaigns. Either way, the whole checkout takes seconds.

SpotOn Handheld bridges your front of house and back of house in real time. Orders fire to the kitchen the moment they're placed, allowing staff to stay on the floor instead of shuttling between the table and the terminal. That lets your team focus on the guest, which is where hospitality actually happens. The result is a measurable impact on improving efficiency across your entire operation.
